Tracey Smith appointed Managing Director of York Science Park Ltd.
Tracey Smith has been promoted to York Science Park Ltd. Board as Managing Director, with effect from 1st August 2010.
York Science Park Chairman Dr Robert Brech said: “Tracey has done an exceptional job as General Manager, successfully leading a dedicated and growing team to great success, securing accreditations such as Customer First, ISO Quality Management and Investors in People and meeting the Board’s objectives. Her appointment to the Board as Managing Director is therefore well-deserved and I look forward to working more closely with her as the Science Park’s strategy develops further over the coming months.”
Tracey said of her appointment: “I’m delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the Science Park Board and to have a greater level of influence in the strategic direction of what is one of the UK’s most successful, dynamic and economically important science and technology parks. It’s an exciting time to be joining the Science Park Board, as we take on The Catalyst this Autumn; a new space for Creative, IT, Digital and Media businesses.”
As Managing Director for York Science Park Ltd, Tracey will manage a team of eleven, set to increase over the next 12 months, and over 100,000 sq.ft of specialist space including offices, laboratories, meeting rooms and conference facilities.
Tracey’s previous experience spans the private commercial, corporate and public sectors in the key areas of facilities, human resources, marketing, quality, customer service and project management.
A member of the Institute of Directors, Tracey has undertaken their Director Development programme and is a Director of York Professionals; a professional membership organisation linking over one hundred professionals and businesses in and around York.
Tracey has also participated in a co-mentoring development programme run by the Metier Centre in Leeds; including five days of intensive coaching training plus practical experience to reinforce learning. These mentoring and coaching skills will undoubtedly prove invaluable in the day-to-day running of York Science Park and in dealing with early stage and start-up businesses.
