Who we are
With combined experience of over 100 years (!) the Intandem team offer a rare mix of skills and experience. We have all worked at senior levels within national and international, large and small, public and private sector organisations.
Here’s a bit more about each of us:
Rachel Goddard, Managing Director
Intandem was founded by Rachel eight years ago. Since then, the agency has flourished and grown to become a team of five, highly experienced communications professionals, with an impressive portfolio of wide-ranging clients across Yorkshire and beyond. After completing a science degree, Rachel joined British Cereal Exports and was responsible for the promotion of grain to overseas markets. This triggered her fascination with marketing, and kick started her career as a professional marketeer, including ten years heading up the Marketing and PR department for the £500 million turnover construction and engineering company, Shepherd Construction. Rachel has been Vice Chair of York Professionals since 2004, and when she’s not helping Intandem’s clients deliver brilliant communications strategies, she can be found running half marathons and using her motivational techniques to guide her son’s rugby team to success!
Susan Kay, Senior Account Director
Susan has significant experience of marketing, sales and PR at senior levels across a wide range of industries including leisure and tourism, construction and education. She has previously worked in PR and marketing for organisations including the Yorkshire Tourist Board, Consort Hotels Ltd. (now Best Western) and Shepherd Engineering Services . With a degree in Business Studies, Susan has worked for Intandem for seven years where she has delivered marketing and PR campaigns for clients with exceptional results. A highly creative and tenacious individual, Susan takes inspiration from the worlds of art, music and travel, and is often found trying to persuade her family to join her on trips to galleries and concerts both here and abroad, whilst secretly knowing they would rather be watching live sport!
Claire Bowers, Senior Account Director
Claire joined Intandem in 2010 after moving up to York from London. Claire has worked for over 15 years at senior levels across the broadcasting, museums and book publishing sectors. She worked for eight years as a Head of Communications in BBC Television, where she launched BBC Four and led the Specialist Factual communications teams. Prior to that she was Media Relations Manager for London’s Natural History Museum. While there, her team won In House PR Department of the Year at the PR Week Awards 1998. With a degree in English Literature from the University of York, Claire’s passions include running, reading as many novels as is humanly possible and exploring Yorkshire with her family.
Jackie Rogers, Operations Director
Jackie has worked in senior business management and administration positions across a range of commercial and public sector organisations including health, financial services and management consultancy. Organisations include the NHS, Oxford University Press and a number of SMEs. With a PG Dip Management, she has worked at Intandem for five years using her extensive experience in market research, business planning and project management, to enhance and support client projects. When not working, Jackie can be found undertaking seriously long challenge walks and indulging her family’s love of live music and theatre.
Rachel Dex, Account Director
Rachel has a world class background in business journalism, working for national and international media including The Economist, Bloomberg News, New York Times, BBC News and Channel 4 News. Rachel has worked for Intandem for the past six years where she has delivered high impact PR and marketing campaigns for a wide spectrum of public and private sector clients and environmental charities both in the UK and overseas. With a degree in Economics, Rachel has also been an Economics lecturer and writer. Rachel is fluent in Spanish and passionate about conservation and green issues, and enjoys spending time with her family travelling to remote parts of the world.
